 3-inch Read Shell Smooth Sided High Band
This is an unfired smooth-sided Read with a high copper sabot cast flush with the side of the projectile body.  Notice the crude mould seam around the upper third of the projectile; Confederate mould seams usually ran longitudinally.  This pattern of Read projectile is scarce.
