2.25-inch Schenkl Copy

Only two specimens are known to the authors in this caliber.  This projectile was an attempt by the Confederates to copy the Federal Schenkl projectile.  The copper fuze adapter is smaller than that of the typical Confederate fuze plug.  There was a thick copper ring that served as a sabot.  The other specimen, which has the sabot intact, is located in the West Point Museum, New York.
