The Eureka projectile was manufactured by the American Projectile Company in New York and was test fired by the Washington Arsenal as early as May 17, 1864.  The brass fuze has a screwdriver slot and spanner holes.  Stamped near the fuze are the letters "JH."  The brass sabot consists of a concave disk and a short cylindrical cone attached to the base of the projectile with a combination of rivets.
