12-pounder Bormann Braille Type Fuze
This unpunched Federal Bormann time fuze, has raised dots instead of numbers similar to the Braille system. This pictured fuze is commonly referred to as a Bormann Braille time fuze. The dots are grouped, from one to five, in the location where the numbers would be on a standard-style Bormann fuze. No Confederate copies of this style fuze have been recovered. Projectiles using this type Bormann fuze are uncommon in any caliber.

The example below is a fixed 12-pounder Bormann fuzed ball.  This is similar to how fixed-ammunition was manufactured during the Civil War.
