Confederate 24-pounder Bormann Fused Ball
This pictured specimen was recovered from the Savannah River near the site of the August Powder Works, Augusta, Georgia. Note the well preserved condition of the original wooden sabot and tin strapping which can be seen nailed to the sabot. This particular sabot was manufactured by the Confederates without a cartridge bag tie on groove.  The Confederate 24-pounder Bormann fuzed ball is uncommon.
