Bronze guns and edged arms
The Ames Manufacturing Company of Chicopee, Massachusetts, was a private firm known for casting bronze cannon and for its manufacture of swords and other military equipment. Its foundry work included field guns of the bronze pattern.
As a contractor to the government, Ames contributed guns and edged weapons to the Federal forces, and its name is found among the makers of Civil War bronze ordnance.
