The Southern handbook
The Confederacy issued its own ordnance manual for the use of its officers, closely modeled on the United States manual from which so much of the Southern service derived. It specified the guns, ammunition, and stores of the Confederate armies as far as the South could supply them.
Read alongside the Federal manuals and against surviving objects, the Confederate ordnance manuals help document the ordnance of the Southern armies.
