The Selma projectile denotes rifled projectiles produced at the Confederate ordnance works at Selma, Alabama, one of the South's principal centers of heavy-ordnance and ammunition manufacture. Selma supplied projectiles for the Brooke rifles cast there and for other guns.
Attributed by their construction and by the record of the Selma works, these projectiles are part of the material evidence of Confederate ordnance production.
