Round shot and rifled shot
For smoothbore cannon, solid shot is normally spherical and commonly described by the nominal pounder class of the gun. Rifled artillery introduced elongated solid projectiles, often called shot or bolts, whose caliber and sabot or rotating-band system must also be recorded.
