This is one of the
series of Maury armor punching bolt for a smoothbore gun. The bourrelets insure a
tight fit in the gun bore. In order to obtain maximum velocity, a channel is left in
the center of the projectile, from top to bottom, to ease the pressure. This type
of projectile was very effective when fired at point blank range.
