This interesting
Confederate projectile is more or less a copy of the Federal Navy Dahlgren.
Instead of raised vertical surfaces for a bearing surface it uses interrupted bourrelets,
serving also as flame grooves. The lead sabot is affixed in the Dahlgren
fashion. No doubt an experimental projectile. This pictured specimen is
located in the West Point Military Academy Museum in New York.
