This is an example of a Confederate 12-pounder (4.62-inch caliber)
spherical projectile with a polygonal-cavity interior. It was found exploded in the
ground, recovered, cleaned, and reassembled. The lines of weakness are clearly
evident in the equal-shaped fragments.
