This fired example of a Archer projectile is of the same variety as
the projectile pictured here, but
without the lead sabot. This shell was most likely manufactured at the Bellona Foundry,
which was located 14 miles above Richmond, Virginia, and was adjacent to the Bellona
Arsenal. The Bellona Arsenal served as a facility for assembly and repair of small-arms
and other ordnance. The Arsenal also received and stored cannon produced by the Bellona
Foundry.
