20-pounder Selma Shell (IIIA131)

This Selma Arsenal manufactured projectile has lines of weakness, cast into the interior of the body, in the form of a six-sided prism. Upon successful detonation, it was ideally designed, to break the shell into several equal-size fragments, except for the nose and the base. This extremely rare specimen is unfired. A few unfired specimens have been recovered from South Carolina.
