Archer

DIAMETER:  3.22 inches
GUN:  3.3-inch Confederate rifle
LENGTH:  6 1/2 inches
WEIGHT:  8 pounds 14 ounces
CONSTRUCTION:  Solid shot
SABOT:  Lead band (missing)

This fired Archer projectile is similar to the picture specimen here, but is missing the lead sabot, which was typically lost during firing. Note that there are three grooves on the straight cylindrical base which helped hold the lead sabot on the tapered base. This Archer projectile variety also was recovered from the 1862 Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee.
