A reference collection
The ordnance collection at the United States Military Academy at West Point preserves guns, projectiles, and ordnance materiel gathered over the long history of the Academy and the Army. It is one of the important institutional collections of American ordnance.
Its descriptive catalogue, listing and identifying the pieces, is a standard reference against which similar surviving objects can be compared and identified.
